In autumn 2023, REWE started using a hydrogen vehicle from hylane in the North region. After several months of intensive use in day-to-day operations, the company has drawn a positive interim balance. The use of further lorries with fuel cells is also planned.

First hydrogen lorry in practical use at DACHSER

During the day, the Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell is used for local transport in Magdeburg; at night, it drives to the DACHSER branch in Berlin-Schönefld. With the Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell, DACHSER has its first hydrogen fuel cell lorry in operation.

Hydrogen truck in practical use at Hermes Germany

What role can fuel cell drives play in the heavy goods sector to reduce CO₂ emissions? Hermes Germany is looking for answers to this question and has been using a hydrogen lorry since the beginning of 2024. The 48-month test run will show whether the locally emission-free vehicle proves its worth in day-to-day operations.
